Simple designs

Sitting watching TV I tend to draw simple designs over watercolor or acrylic backgrounds......it clears my head. This journal is one I started without really looking at the paper. It is technically just sketch paper thin and not really made for any type of water media. Oh well, it is really wrinkled, I will just iron it flat later!

Final color

Green centers.....this is a great way to check out color combos for other artwork!

Layering in Black

and light blue

Copic still shows through

More oil color

Pink, turquoise, BTW I am rubbing these in with my fingers

Overlay with oil pastels

So, a while back I scribbled all over this page with a maroon Copic  marker then a pink, then a green and so on ....I was really cleaning off my pens. While I was watching TV I got out the Portfolio oil Pastels and started in with circles a bit of white, some purple.....

Watercolor over Pastel

The beginning of a quickly painted face. The first layer was done in pastel. Watercolored over the top. I think this is where I am leaving it....at the moment.
I could come back to it a year from now and change my mind.

2 layers smooth

smoother

One Layer

Set the pastel

Recolor over the Pan Pastel with alcohol markers to set the pastel. You will notice it is not as streaky. Repeating this process creates a smoother finish. Wipe your markers off on scrap paper as you go.

Cover over

Here I recoated the face with Pan Pastel. I went over even the eyebrows & lips with the fleshy tones.

coloring with markers then PAN PASTEL

There are times I do not like the sureaky look of markers over a magazine or collage page....Pan Pastels can help even it out.

not sure about the tops of the heads

Another beginning.....using the play color metallic sticks from Jack Richeson....these are interesting because they are tempera paint in stick form....they dry very quickly and half a similar look to oil pastels or gelatos.

Primary colors

This is getting there....sister mary primary This was done on Kraft Bee Paper, painted in the back with metallic acrylic and metallic Playcolor sticks.

reworking the figure!

Reconfiguring this saint...reworking the head and face.

Another beginning

Playcolor sticks look great on the brown paper.

Adding gold playcolor forhair and wreath.

Back to my saints journal...starting a new page
