Coffee Break Lady

This is a CoffeeBreak Lady  Here she is a bit over the edge with silver paint....which means I need to dig out the stencil and give her a better outline.

From the D journal

This is a journal I have started up again......It began as a sample altered book and contains pages from a variety of people back when we were doing round robin books. Since then it has been sitting in my studio waiting to be picked up and worked on.
My newest painting....hanging while I decide if it is really done or not.

I have seen more .....

Double rainbows in Idaho than anywhere else I have ever lived!
Handcolored leaf gelli print
Handcolored Gelli
Cannot stop myself ......more zentangle

My favorite so far

Again just shaded with Copic markers and Nero pencils. I do get a lot of questions about what paper to use. I am so Lucky to work at an Art Supply store....I get great deals on all kinds of paper. Lately I have been using Stonehenge   because I have a good stash of it. I did about 50 prints with Strathmore charcoal paper which is much thinner and performed really well for a dryer prints. When I start printing, for the first hour while I warm up just regular bond paper or newsprint is fine. If I do get a great print I can always make a good copy or just a great close up photo.

Just a little shading

with Copics and Nero pencils

on this series

I think I will do a bit more  drawing details on these with charcoal.

hand coloring the gelli prints

I am going through my stacks of gelli Prints and picking a few to hand color and detail.
Today in CDA @ Creative Element if you re coming to Journaling bring Pens all of your favorite PENS oh and your journal. 4:30 pm

Thanks for visiting

I love Chris Cozen's use of nature in her pieces so I am totally thrilled to have received this wonderful POD stencil set from Artist Cellar . BTW Chris's new book with Julie Pritchard is incredible. This coming June, Chris will be teaching at  Spokane Art Supply  and I cannot wait to see how she uses these stencils! When I get a new stencil I like to see how they look just outlined in black so that is always my first step. Once I saw this I knew I wanted to draw them in pencil in mass. Come back and see this as a full page in my doodling journal later this week. I use a lot of figures and I make my own templates sometimes  using magazine cutout and them painting them with plain acrylic on both sides then coating them with matte medium and then  Micro Glaze . This makes them tough like vinyl and the Micro Glaze keeps them from sticking together. If I end up loving the image I cut out a REAL stencil from acetate. These two look kind of beat up but they ...

Come to Club at Spokane Art Supply

Another kitty girl beginning

Kitty Girl

BTW the blog hop stop today is  Seth Apter's blog The Altered Page Here is one more from the same journal .....Coffeebreak men stencils behind her. Crafter workshop 6x6 stencil in the background with pink spray paint. pencil and pen lines.

Metallic paint & pencil

Just another Journal....... the background was a mess of paint I had used a few nights back Bronze, Micaceous Iron Oxide, Green Gold, Vat Orange (Golden of course) ....I was using this as the palette for another project. The next day I did a bit of scribbling with a white pencil ( a Stabilo All) then took a homemade stencil and outlined in black pen. Just a few dashes of orange to highlight the guy (which looks great over the bronze)......that's it for now.

Today the Blog Hop Starts

Here is one that is halfway cleaned

Cleaning stencils

A constant question in using stencils is how to clean them. Here is what I do ...... Put the stencils in warm shallow water filled sink Get a steel wool pad Start scrubbing till all the acrylic is off Thats it The hard part is catching the solid acrylic paint before it goes down the drain...... a good sink strainer is all you need here.
Done with this one ....I think.
Stopping for now
Working the hair.
